Relationships

Sexuality

For many people, partners, sex and relationships can be really hard to talk about. If you are lesbian, gay or bisexual, you may find it difficult to discuss your sexuality with your friends and family.

You may be too embarrassed, worried or confused to talk to anyone close to you. But don't worry, all our Youth Advisers are happy to talk to you confidentially. You can speak to an adviser in school or visit your local Connexions centre and ask for an appointment.

You can speak to someone from the 4Ugroup project, a safe and secure group for young people living in the Portsmouth area who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or are unsure of their sexuality or gender.

Alternatively you can use the links below and opposite to get helpful information and facts on relationships, and how best to deal with them.

FFLAG (Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) is a national voluntary organisation dedicated to supporting parents and their lesbian, gay and bisexual sons and daughters, with help lines across the UK, and useful links to resources. They produce two useful booklets 'How do I tell my parents?' and 'A guide for families and friends of lesbians and gays' which are available online. These are also available in Urdu and Hindi.

GayYouth UK is a comprehensive site offering advice and support for young gay, lesbian and bisexual people. The site also contains information on coming out, bullying, sexual health, and dealing with parents.
